At the end of Round One of the FCWT junior golf tournament at the Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame University, Patrick Frodigh of Westwood, MA (2013) and Sameer Kalia of CANADA (2012) were tied for the lead at 74. On Sunday after a delay that resulted in an 11am shotgun start, both players carded rounds of 78 and remained tied for the lead. A playoff followed and on the second hole of the playoff Patrick Frodigh was able to capture the title. Sixteen year old Patrick is a second year junior golfer on the FCWT. This was his first FCWT Junior Golf Tour win.
Sameer Kalia, 17, was also playing in his first FCWT tournament. Three other Canadians finished tied for 3rd at 153: TJ Gillespie, Christopher Lancaster, and David French. Frodigh led the boys 16-18 division in birdies for the tournament with 8 while Jake Curwin of Faribault, MN (2013) led in pars with 22. Curwin finished tied for 6th place with defending champion Bailey Truesdell of Grand Blanc, MI (2012). Keith Burkard of Ramsey, NJ (2013) finished in 8th place, only 4 shots back of the winner. Mitchell Johnson of Middleton, WI (2012) finished five strokes off the pace in 9th place in his third season on the FCWT junior golf tour.
In the Boys 13-15 division, Marc Casullo of CANADA (2014) finished with a round of 74 to win his first FCWT junior golf tournament. Casullo finished three strokes ahead of fellow Canadians Devan Schulert of ON (2014) and Tony Gil, also of ON (2016). Schulert, a fourth season junior golfer on the FCWT, led this division in pars with 21, while Tony Gil led in birdies with 5. This was Gil’s first FCWT junior golf tournament.
In the Girls division, Canadian Samantha Spencer of ON (2014) won by 9 strokes over fellow Canadians Meghan McDougall of Unionville (2012) and Rachel Pollock (2013). Miss Spencer led the division in birdies with 5 and pars with 22 for the tournament.
In the 11-13 division, Patrick’s younger brother William improved his second round score by 4 shots on day two
