FCWT junior golf tournament at Wigwam Golf Resort: Final Round Recap.

FCWT junior golf tournament Wigwam Zach and Gus

Zach Foushee and Gus Lundquist

Foushee fires a five under par to finish 2nd; Lundquist leads wire-to-wire for first win

On Sunday at the final round of the FCWT junior golf tournament at the Wigwam Golf Resort, Zach Foushee of West Linn, OR (2012) would probably have liked a round of golf to be 19 holes, instead of the standard 18.  Foushee, who was the 2011 FCWT Tour Championship winner at the Boys 16-19 level last May, fired a final round of 5 under par 67 to finish one stroke short of the title at Wigwam.  Foushee played the back nine at 5 under par, making birdie on four of the last five holes, including the 17th and 18th holes.  But thankfully for Gus Lundquist of Parker, CO (2012), eighteen holes is a standard round of golf and Gus was able to capture his first FCWT junior golf tournament win.  Gus, 17, was playing his first tournament of the 2011-2012 season, but has played in two previous junior golf seasons on the FCWT with some good finishes.  Last season at the FCWT Tour Championship that Foushee won, Gus finished 15th.  This time around Gus’s two consecutive rounds of one under par gave him the title.  Gus led wire-to-wire and finished at 142 for the 36 hole tournament.  Foushee’s final round earned him 2nd place at 143.
