Tiger takes second title of the season in Boys 13-15 division
Tiger Lee of China (2015) began the final round of the Future Collegians World Tour (FCWT) junior golf tournament at Mission Inn with an 8 stroke lead over his fellow competitors in the Boys 13-15 division. On Sunday, Lee, a student at the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy, posted a round of 74 on the El Campeon Golf Course to earn his second FCWT tournament title of the 2011-2012 season. Lee led this division in pars with 26 for the 36 hole tournament. Luis Garza, who led the division in birdies with 8, earned Low Round honors on Sunday for his closing round of 72, a significant improvement over his opening round of 85. Luis finished tied for 3rd with Seiya Liu of Beverly Hills, CA (2015). Vicente Benitez of Mexico (2015) improved his second round score by 4 shots and finished in 2nd place, 9 strokes back of Tiger.
Arimoto becomes the first to have 3 wins in the FCWT Girls Division
In the Girls division, Karen Arimoto of Japan (2015) became the first young lady this season to claim her 3rd FCWT junior golf tournament win with rounds of 74-76-150 at the Mission Inn El Campeon Golf Course. Miss Arimoto, who led this division in pars with 24, previously won the FCWT tournaments at Innisbrook in October and the University of Florida in December. Second place in the Girls division went to Madison Lellyo of Windermere, FL (2014) who finished at 153. This was Madison’s second Top 3 finish of the season. She previously finished tied for 2nd at the FCWT Reunion tournament. Harley Dubsky of Valparaiso, IN (2014) also earned her second Top 3 finish of the season by finishing in third place, four shots back of Miss Arimoto. Overnight co-leader Yuka Kajiki of Japan (2014) finished in 4th place at 156.
Donegan fires a one under par; forces playoff with Furey and earns first win
Boys 16-19 division overnight leader Hale Furey of Newport Beach, CA (2014) found himself in a tie at the end of 36 holes. Richard Donegan of Okeechobee, FL (2012) had forced a tie by firing a one under par 71 on Sunday. On the second playoff hole, Richard made par to capture the win, his first with the FCWT tournament win. Furey’s second place finish provided him with his second Top 3 of the season. Caulen Coe of Gulf Stream, FL (2013) and Gonzalo Rubio of Garza Garcia, Mexico (2012) finished tied for 3rd at 150, just two strokes back of the winner. Three players finished tied for 5th at 151: Henry Davis of Mexico (2013), Chad Stumpo of Newton, MA, and Carlos Madrigal of Caracas, Venezuela (2012). Stumpo tied Donegan for the most birdies; each had 7 for the tournament. Julio Arguelles of Mexico (2013), Hale Furey, and Jose Hernandez of Santo Domingo, DR (2013) all had 25 pars to lead that category.
