Round One Recap of the FCWT Junior Golf at Eagle Creek 2014


Philip Loeb of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (2015) fired an opening round of two under par 71 on Saturday at the FCWT Junior Golf at Eagle Creek 2014.  Loeb leads a group of 5 players by one shot.  Conor Mead of Amherst, OH (2016), Camilo Mexsen of Mexico (2016), Juan Jose Guerra of Santa Domingo, DR (2015), Kenneth Martinez of Puerto Rico (2016) and Patricio Guerra of Mexico (2016) are all at 72.  Lucas Hicks of Milton, MA, is at even par and in 7th place.  Five players are tied for 8th place at +1, just three strokes back.  The Top 20 junior golfers are all within 5 shots of the lead with 18 holes to play on Sunday.  Loeb and Guerra each carded 6 birdies on Saturday to co-lead this division.



It’s a close race in the Boys 12-14 division as well.  Lucas Park of Brazil (2018) fired a one under par 72 and leads by one shot, but two proven champions are on his heels.  Joe Pagdin of Orlando, FL (2020) and Eric Berggren of Windermere, FL (2019), who have gone head-to-head several times already this season are both at 73.  Padgin and Berggren each have multiple FCWT wins already this season.  Also tied for 2nd place is Bo Peng of China (2018).  Pyae Thu of Myanmar (2018) is in 5th place at 74.  Matheus Park of Brazil (2019) is at 75, just three strokes back and Kelvin Young Woong Lim of Canada (2019) is at 76.  Don’t count out Canon Claycomb of Bowling Green, KY (2020) who is 5 shots back of Park and in 8th place.



In the Girls division, Tania Nunez Hernandez of Mexico fired a two under par round and leads by two shots over Sophie Liu of Canada (2016) and Mariya Savchenko of Moscow, Russia (2018).  Gillian Alexander of Pittsburg, PA (2015) and Claire Carlin of Keller, TX (2014) are in 4th and 5th respectively and within 5 strokes of the lead.  Miss Carlin, Miss Hernandez and Miss Savchenko all posted 5 birdies on Saturday to lead the Girls division.  Fourteen-year-old Tania will be looking for her first FCWT junior golf tournament win on Sunday.
