The Final Round of the FCWT Junior Golf Tournament had a fog delay of about an hour during the middle of the round. Other than that the players enjoyed the course at the Saddlebrook Resort.
Feanor captures 1st FCWT Title
Fourteen-year-old Feanor Valaquenta of Bradenton (2022) captured his first FCWT win in the Boys 12-14 division on Sunday. Valaquenta led wire-to-wire with rounds of 77-82. Leo Wessel of Indianapolis, IN (2024) finished in 2nd place at 163.The four-stroke win was well-deserved after battling down to the final hole at the World Golf Village tournament in early January. Feanor thanked his sister Greer for her support.
Warner wins Girls division
While Greer was not able to capture the title at the FCWT Junior Golf Tournament Saddlebrook 2019, she did finish in 2nd place.
Therese Warner of Kennewick, WA (2019) won the Girls division. Miss Warner carded rounds of 74-72 to win by 6 over Greer.
She began the final round with a two shot advantage over Greer then carded a final round of 72 to win by 6. Therese led the girls division in pars with 26 for the tournament. Ella Peiwen Han of China (2023), Jingxiu Huang of China (2021) and Abigail Stetz of Wesley Chapel, FL, all carded 4 birdies during the tournament to lead that statistic. Miss Huang finished in 3rd place after moving up a spot during the final round. Miss Han and Mariana Chong Leon of Wesley Chapel, FL (2020) shared 4th place at 158 followed by Miss Stetz at 159.
Simon Haas wins Boys 15-19 title at FCWT Junior Golf Tournament Saddlebrook 2019
In the Boys 15-19 division Simon Haas of Germany (2019) began the final round in 2nd place. On Saturday, Haas carded a solid 74. He was two shots back of the overnight leader Leo Man of China (2020).
On Sunday, Simon managed the course well. He played the front nine at +1 then made the turn. Despite 3 bogeys on the back nine he was able to card another 36 to finish at 72 for the day. His round earned him both Low Round honors and the winner’s title in the Boys 15-19 division.
Leo Man finished in 2nd place. He led this division in birdies with 6 for the tournament. Michael Thomas of Lutz, FL (2022) finished in 3rd place at 154. Nils Nottebohm of Mexico (2021) finished at 155. Brian Murdock of New Jersey (2020) and Jason Shi of Wesley Chapel (2019) shared 5th place at 156. Shi and our winner Haas both made 21 pars for the tournament. Trey Tesiero of Saint Johns, FL (2020) moved up a spot on Sunday and finished 7th. Victor Dos Santos of Brazil (2019) moved up 3 spots on Sunday with a final round of 77 in the FCWT Junior Golf Tournament Saddlebrook 2019.
