The FCWT Junior Golf Tournament Silverado 2019 presented by FootJoy took place February 9-10, 2019. Junior golfers played 36 holes of stroke play at the North and South Courses at the Silverado Resort in Napa, CA. This is one of the FCWT junior golf tournaments on the 2018-2019 schedule.
Final Round FCWT Junior Golf Tournament Silverado 2019
The weather was a major story in Round One of the FCWT Junior Golf Tournament Silverado 2019. We had cold temperatures followed by rain, then wind, then rain and wind. On Sunday, the weather was still cold thanks to Winter Storm Maya which was dropping snow all around us, but we stayed dry. The wind did pick up by late morning which kept it chilly especially when the sun was behind the clouds.
But all in all the weather was much improved over Round One.
Boys 15-19 Division
Sunday was a moving day for a lot of reasons. The first was the junior golfers moved from the South Course, which they played on Saturday, to the North Course at Silverado Resort for Sunday’s Final Round. It also was moving day for many junior golfers who moved up the leaderboard.
One of those players was Daniel Sheedy of San Mateo, CA (2019). Sheedy, who started the day T2, carded consecutive rounds of 74 to win the Boys 15-19 division by one shot on Sunday. This is Daniel’s third time playing this tournament. In 2017 he finished T36 and in 2018 he finished T12 with rounds of 74-78. Congratulations, Daniel, on moving up the leaderboard and winning your first FCWT junior golf tournament!

Several other junior golfers had some great chip shots. The best one we saw that didn’t go in was by Charlie Hsieh:
We waited for a wind gust to push it in while Hsieh was approaching the green, but he did end up putting out.
Hsieh, who is from Atherton, CA (2019) finished T11 on Sunday. Sheedy is headed to Wake Forest University (NC) in the fall for academics. Maybe they will need a walk-on?
Kwon Gets It Done
Simon Kwon of Salt Lake City, UT (2021) shot an opening round of 77 at the FCWT Junior Golf Tournament Silverado 2019. That put him in a group of 8 golfers who shared 7th place after Round One.
On Sunday, Kwon came on strong during his final four holes. After making the turn at two-over-par Simon made a hole-in-one on the par 3, 15th hole.
Then he finished with a birdie on #18. He moved 5 positions up the leaderboard on Sunday. And to make it even better, he was able to share his success with his friends and family, including his grandfather Johnny Miller.
Connor Motherway of Reno, NV (2019) finished in third place with rounds of 74-76. Motherway began the final round with this birdie putt on #1.
He led the division in birdies with 8 for the tournament. Last season he finished T6 at this tournament.
Congratulations Top 3 Finishers
Other junior golfers had notable rounds on Sunday. Ethan Korock of Lodi, CA (2021) moved up 15 spots on the leaderboard and shared Low Round honors with Simon Kwon.
Korock opened with a round of 79, but fired a solid even par 72 on Sunday on the North Course at the FCWT Junior Golf Tournament Silverado 2019. This was the sixteen-year-old’s first FCWT tournament. We look forward to seeing him play more events.
Sean Lam of Taylorsville, UT (2022) rounded out the Top 5 in the Boys 15-19 division. Lam was five over par at the turn on Sunday, but came back strong with three birdies on the back nine to finish at 76.
(Howard) Seung Ho Yoon of Fullerton, CA (2020) moved up 9 spots with a final round of 75. He shared 6th place with Paramdeep Sodhi of Folsom, CA (2021), Nathan Wang of Fremont, CA (2022) and Ryan Meyer of Oakdale, CA (2021).
Finn O’Kelly of Woodside, CA (2020) finished 10th. O’Kelly was the second biggest mover of the day (behind Korock).
O’Kelly moved up 13 spots on the leaderboard with a final round of 73. He hit a really nice chip shot on 17 then made this putt for birdie:
Skylar May Wins Girls Division
Skylar May of Stockton, CA (2021) carded a final round of 75 on Sunday to win the Girls division of the FCWT Junior Golf Tournament Silverado 2019. May started the day in third place behind co-leaders Megan Chou and Sloane Bayer.
She started strong with birdie-birdie and then made the turn at even par. While the back nine did prove a bit more challenging for Miss May, she still finished at 75, earned the Low Round for the girls, and won by 4 shots.
Megan Chou of Los Altos, CA (2020) finished in 2nd place. TianYi (Tina) Xu of Los Altos, CA (2021) finished in third place at 161.
In the Boys 12-14 division, Colin Keith of Alamo, CA (2024) won his first FCWT junior golf tournament. Keith, 13, was happy to share the moment with his younger sister.
We love that about our junior golf tournaments. Seeing family and friends all share in the great moments together.
A big thank you to all the families, players and friends who attended the FCWT Junior Golf Tournament Silverado 2019. Also our sincerest thanks to Silverado Resort and especially to their staff for helping us have a successful tournament!
