Round One of the FCWT Junior Golf Tournament Papago 2019
It was a beautiful day in Arizona for Round One of the FCWT Junior Golf Tournament Papago 2019. Junior golfers from out-of-state enjoyed the warmer temperatures and the sunshine.

Boys 15-19 Division
In the older boys division of the FCWT Junior Golf Tournament Papago 2019,
John Heckel of San Jose, CA (2021) was the first player in at par or better. Heckel posted a solid round of even par 72. A double bogey on the 4th hole put him at +2 at the turn. But then he made a birdie on 15 and a birdie on 17 for a 34 on the back nine.
Cooper Markham of Maple Grove, MN (2020) passed Heckel when he fired a 71 (-1) on Saturday. Markham made the turn at 2-under-par after making birdies on 1, 4, and 9 and a bogey on 3. He made pars on the back nine except for the 14th hole where he made a bogey, thus the -1.
But Cooper will not start the final round as the sole leader. In the very last group of the day,
Owen Mullen of Nova Scotia, Canada (2021) also fired a 71. Mullen made the turn at +3 (39), but then made an eagle on the par 5, 10th hole. He followed that up with a birdie on #11. Then made 3 consecutive pars. Another birdie on 15 followed by a bogey, par and finally a birdie on 18 for a 4-under-par 32 on the back nine!
Simon Kwon of Salt Lake City, UT (2021) is two shots back of the leaders and will start in 4th place at 73. Brayden Bozak of Gilbert, AZ (2022), who carded 4 birdies, is in 5th place at 74.
